Students from Firebaugh and Lynwood high schools recently took center stage at the 2025 ASU+GSV Summit, one of the world’s premier gatherings focused on innovation in education and technology.
The group of scholars interviewed leading tech visionaries, networked with global industry executives and joined panels with educators, entrepreneurs and policy leaders shaping the future of learning.
They also gained insight into Lynwood Unified’s pioneering work in equity, education technology and artificial intelligence through panels led by Superintendent Gudiel R. Crosthwaite, Ph.D. and Assistant Superintendent of Technology and Innovation Patrick Gittisriboongul, Ed.D., who were recognized as a 2023-24 Google GSV Education Innovation Fellows.
“Our students didn’t just attend – they engaged,” Crosthwaite said. “They asked thoughtful questions, exchanged ideas with changemakers and showed the nation what it looks like when young people are empowered to shape the future.”
Students also met Colin Kaepernick, who is known globally not only for his sports career, but for his social justice advocacy – leaving a lasting impression on the students. His message about courage, equity and using platforms to uplift others aligned closely with the values instilled at Lynwood Unified.
The ASU+GSV Summit, which took place in San Diego, continues to be a launchpad for transformative ideas in education, and with students like those from Lynwood at the table, the future looks brighter than ever.
