The Lynwood Unified community is invited to celebrate the grand opening of the District’s state-of-the-art Culinary Arts Classroom and Lab at the Lynwood High School Bullis Campus, 12114 Bullis Road, at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 24.
Lynwood Unified Board of Education members, Superintendent Gudiel R. Crosthwaite, culinary arts scholars and community members will celebrate with a ribbon cutting and tasty bites made by the scholars themselves. Following the program will be an opportunity to tour the facility and see the students in action. The marching band and cheer will also entertain the audience.
Modeled after the culinary arts kitchen at Long Beach City College, the new facility will offer students a high-quality learning experience with stainless steel equipment and ADA-compliant workstations that support various cooking styles. The lab is equipped for safe catering, including deep-frying and baking.
Funded by the District's Measure K Bond, the $3.1 million facility was also made possible in part by grants from Los Angeles Regional Consortium’s K12 Strong Workforce Program and the California Department of Education’s Career Technical Education Incentive Grant Program.
