PBIS at Lynwood

Cultivating a Culture of HONOR

Lynwood High School is proud to be recognized as a Platinum PBIS School, a testament to our commitment to fostering a positive, respectful, and inclusive school culture where all students can thrive.

What is PBIS?

Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) is a proactive, research-based framework that promotes positive behavior, prevents disciplinary issues, and creates a more productive learning environment. Rather than focusing solely on punishment, PBIS emphasizes teaching and reinforcing appropriate behaviors schoolwide.

Our Approach

At Lynwood High, PBIS is a campus-wide effort. A dedicated team of staff members—representing every part of the school—has undergone specialized training to implement and sustain PBIS practices that align with our school values. We use data to inform our strategies, provide consistent behavioral expectations, and ensure students receive the support they need to succeed both academically and socially.

Lynwood Knights Lead with HONOR

Our schoolwide expectations are built around the core values of HONOR:

  • Honest

  • Organized

  • Noble

  • Ownership

  • Respect

PBIS Team Purpose & Goals

To generate new knowledge and understanding of Lynwood High School's behavioral expectations and related policies affecting student achievement based on both quantitative and perceptual data

To seek school wide faculty and community commitment to the fundamental beliefs and values from which PBIS was built upon.

These traits are more than just words—they represent the standard for how Knights conduct themselves in the classroom, on campus, and in the community. Students are recognized and celebrated for demonstrating HONOR in their daily actions.

Why PBIS Matters

PBIS is not just about behavior management—it’s about creating a school environment where students feel safe, valued, and empowered. Research has shown that PBIS significantly reduces disciplinary incidents, improves school climate, and boosts academic outcomes.

At Lynwood High School, PBIS is a cornerstone of our mission to prepare students for college, career, and life by instilling values that will serve them long after graduation.

Together, we lead with HONOR.
