Lynwood High School Imperial Campus Transformation Continues

Lynwood High School’s transformation continues as construction crews advance work on the new academic building and modernization efforts across the campus. The project is creating new classrooms, career technical education (CTE) spaces and student gathering areas while updating existing facilities to create a cohesive, modern learning environment.

The new three-story academic building will feature more than 60 classrooms and a forum space near the main entrance for students and teachers to gather, collaborate and learn. Specialized spaces will support CTE programs including esports, culinary arts, photography and medical pathways. Exterior construction is also progressing, with classrooms framed and crews installing sheathing, waterproofing and windows.

Modernization is also underway across the existing Imperial campus, including renovated restrooms that will meet current accessibility standards and refreshed interior and exterior designs to complement the new building. The campus will also feature new welding, robotics and electrical technology labs, expanding opportunities for students to explore skilled trades and career pathways.

Athletic fields have been leveled ahead of renovations to the baseball, softball and practice fields. Planned improvements include new dugouts, scoreboards, lighting and other upgrades. The performing arts center will receive upgraded lighting, rigging systems and cinema-quality projectors, while the library will become a high-tech learning space with flexible areas for studying and collaboration. New shade structures are also being built between the amphitheaters, and the existing lunch shelter will be replaced with a modern structure that brings more natural light into the campus quad.

“I’m very excited about the project, and it really is a great opportunity for our community,” Lynwood Unified Facilities Project Manager Jorge Ramirez said. “We are going to be able to reopen this campus as a state-of-the-art space, modernizing all the existing buildings and providing upgraded athletic fields for students to compete on.”

The continued progress marks another milestone in Lynwood Unified’s investment in the future of Lynwood High School, set to open for the 2027-28 school year. The completed campus will provide modern learning environments, expanded career pathways and upgraded spaces designed to support students for years to come.
