Lynwood Unified High Schools Ranked Among Nation’s Best by U.S. News & World Report

Firebaugh and Lynwood high schools have been named among the top 20% of public high schools in the nation in U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools Rankings for the 2025-26 school year, earning silver distinctions for strong academic performance, college readiness, and graduation rates that exceed both state and national averages.

The prestigious list ranked nearly 18,000 high schools nationwide, with Lynwood High in the top 16% and Firebaugh in the top 20% nationally. Both schools also earned recognition among the top 30% of California high schools. Graduation rates for the Class of 2024 surpassed both state and county averages, with Firebaugh at 92.3% and Lynwood High at 89.1%.

The recognition highlights Lynwood Unified’s continued academic growth, fueled by programs such as Dual Enrollment – which allows students to earn free college credit as early as middle school from Compton College and Cal State Dominguez Hills – as well as Advanced Placement, Spanish Dual Language Immersion and hands-on Career Technical Education pathways in fields such as computer science, biomedical sciences, culinary arts and more. Through partnerships with California Advancing Pathways for Students and National Equity Lab, students gain valuable college and career opportunities at no cost.

Signature District events – including the Teen Summit, Explore Your Future, Girl Empowerment Summit, Pride Summit and Dreamers Conference – provide additional enrichment opportunities. These events connect students with mentors, foster community engagement, and open doors to college and career exploration.

Lynwood Unified takes a comprehensive approach to education that ensures all students, regardless of background, are equipped to succeed.
