Lynwood Partners Educational Foundation Awards $104k in Scholarships to College-Bound Seniors

The Lynwood Partners Educational Foundation awarded $104,500 in scholarships to 107 graduating seniors from Lynwood, Firebaugh and Vista high schools during the annual LPEF Scholarship Reception on June 12, helping to launch the Class of 2025 toward their college dreams.

This year’s scholarship recipients are heading to top colleges and universities across the country, including Ivy League institutions Dartmouth and the University of Pennsylvania, as well as UCLA, UC San Diego, UC Irvine, Cal State LA, Cal State Fullerton, and Compton College. Students will also attend private and out-of-state universities such as USC, Pepperdine, Louisiana State University, Prairie View A&M University and other HBCUs.

“We’re so grateful to our amazing partners and donors who make this possible year after year,” LPEF Executive Director Elsa Chagolla said. “Thanks to their generosity, we were able to award a record number of scholarships to our students, including a very special one in honor of Dr. Shawna Dinkins, whose impact will never be forgotten. It’s heartwarming to see our community come together to invest in the futures of our Lynwood students.”

These scholarships were made possible through the generosity of LPEF partners such as the California Credit Union, Reliable Liquid Transport, Southern California Edison, the Lynwood Rotary Club and the Torrance Del Amo Rotary Club, along with individual donors who support LPEF throughout the year.

Since 2015, the Foundation has raised over $1.25 million to support student scholarships, school grants, and STEM and wellness initiatives throughout Lynwood Unified. With a renewed $200,000 grant from the California Community Foundation, LPEF will continue to support students beyond graduation through the Lynwood College Pledge and Lynwood Alumni Center, offering career workshops, mentoring and college guidance.
