Lynwood High School Engineering Program Awarded $5,000 Barona Education Grant

The Lynwood High School engineering program has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Barona Band of Mission Indians to help fund the development of a new 3D printing lab, significantly expanding students’ opportunities for hands-on STEM learning in both the classroom and extracurricular robotics activities.

Assemblymember Jose Luis Solache formally announced the grant to Project Lead the Way engineering and robotics teacher Steve Cline and his students during a check presentation on September 23.

The funds will go toward purchasing four new 3D printers and other essential supplies, supporting more than 500 students over the next five years as they engage in hands-on experience in mechanical design, CAD, coding and problem-solving.

Additionally, the grant – co-authored in partnership with the Lynwood Partners Educational Foundation – will support student-led workshops, showcase events and competitions as well as partnerships with local colleges and businesses to provide mentorship.

This investment reflects Lynwood Unified’s commitment to supporting student achievement and growth, ensuring every learner has the tools to reach their full potential and empowering students with resources to support their academic success.
