Photography
Capturing Moments. Creating Stories. Developing Skills.
The Photography Career Technical Education (CTE) Program at Lynwood High School introduces students to the art and science behind capturing powerful images while developing the technical and creative skills needed for a future in photography or digital media.
What Students Experience
Students gain hands-on experience with:
-
Basic Camera Operations – Learn how to control aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and other settings to take well-composed photos.
-
Photography Techniques – Explore different styles of photography including landscapes, portraits, and nature shots.
-
Digital Editing – Get introduced to Adobe Photoshop and other editing tools to enhance and finalize photos.
Photography students have the opportunity to go on the field—taking part in mini photo walks and field trips right on campus to practice in natural environments and school events. They also get involved beyond the classroom through:
-
The Photography Club – A space to collaborate, share work, and pursue creative challenges.
-
The Yearbook Team – Where students help document the school year and take photos that will be remembered for a lifetime.
Why It Matters
Through guided lessons and creative assignments, students build a strong foundation in visual storytelling, composition, lighting, and post-production—skills that can lead to careers in photography, media arts, journalism, and beyond.
Whether you're interested in pursuing a creative career or simply want to express yourself through a new lens, the Photography CTE Program offers a meaningful, hands-on learning experience that celebrates individual creativity, technical growth, and career readiness.
